REVEALED-DAGRIN WAS KILLED.

What is an accident? Does anyone set out to have an accident intentionally? Do we set out for journeys expecting not to arrive at our destinations? Must death be a result of an accident?… These were some of the questions that raced through my mind when I heard that Da Grin, the enigmatic, wave making rapper had been involved in an accident and that he was in a coma.

Trust Nigerians, they said a lot of things, “Ha! He was Drunk”, “He was over speeding”, “He was answering a call”, He was with a woman”, and trust them now! They would be ready to swear to this lies in the name of God almighty. The only thing I didn’t hear was “Ha! I know what I am talking about now, I was in the car with him!, Haba! Nigerians, I pray that one day God will exorcise the spirit of rumour mongering in our lives. Amen? Amen.

Then came the next phase; the stage of BlackBerry rumour. I am sure that the BB, was not invented for what we use it to do in Nigeria. Have you noticed that if we are not wishing people dead on BB, we are threatening people with “If you don’t send this message to all your contact, God will punish you”. I have always maintained that God does not need BB to get us to worship or talk about him, God is not a God of worship me by threat; He is a caring God who would bless who he wants, no matter what. What is so annoying is that, when you tell people you don’t like the threat messages, they become very rude and behave as if you are wrong for pointing out the obvious. My former BB friend “Angelhips” will know what I am talking about here.

If you know the Number of people that are purported to have died on BB, If you know the number of Your money is on the way if you broadcast this to your contact messages that fly around on a daily basis you would be alarmed!. This is not even ma jist.
My jist is when and where is it foolhardy to ACCIDENTALLY HAVE AN ACCIDENT ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD? No need to go too far, Its OUR DEAR COUNTRY NIGERIA.
I have been unfortunate to have had a near-death experience on the Third Mainland Bridge in our dear Lagos and I can visualise what Da Grin must have gone through.
The questions that any sane Nigerian should ask are; after the accident, was an ambulance readily on ground for quick evacuation? NO, Was he given First-aid immediately? NO, Was he taken to the Intensive care unit of the hospital without having to pay an initial deposit for his care? NO, Were the equipment on ground modern enough to give a correct diagnosis? Diagno…..what? I am sure this certainly is another big NO.
We are all crying, weeping, wailing and mourning the death of a great guy, but do you know what? It was not that accident that killed Da Grin. WE ALL CONTRIBUTED TO HIS DEATH. We KILLED Da Grin.!!!. How you would ask?
What was the cement conveying trailer he ran into, doing parked just on the road in front of the Police station at that time of the night? Did money refuse to exchange hands? If so, the trailer driver and the Law enforcement agents involved are culpable.

Where was the ambulance? Where are the standard hospital equipments? Ask the politicians who chopped the money, they too are all culpable.
Why did the People around him not cry for help on time? They would say it is not in our character to be indisposed since we are super humans (ask Turai!!! she would explain) so our way of thinking is faulty. Every one of us who knows what is right and refuses to do anything about it killed Da Grin. It is easy for us to cry, wail and apportion blames, but until the real positive re-orientation is done, more Da Grins’ will DIE.

Every one of us will be involved in at least one accident in our life time but what will the response be? With all the resources God has given us in Nigeria, no one deserves to die all the cheap deaths that have become our national landmark.
Accidents happen, the reason they are called accidents is because they are beyond us. In our dear Nigeria, it is a huge mistake to have an accident because like in every other aspect of our lives we are totally unprepared.

I admonish you, ‘PLEASE DO NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT IN NIGERIA or NIGERIA WILL DA GRIN YOU’.
Rest in peace AKOGUN, sun re o

LLOYD TO PERFORM AT DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL NIGERIA

HSM NIGERIAN CAST(FINAL 25 FROM ABUJA)

It is official; the most anticipated stage play of 2010 High School Musical on Stage has been penciled to premier on May 27, 2010.

It has been weeks of hard work at the Kidztrust secretariat in Surulere, Lagos. These past weeks, the licensees of Disney’s High School Musical in Nigeria have not only thrived to bring onboard the right set of people to train the Kids in singing, Choreography and acting, they have also succeeded in bringing together kids with different beliefs from different backgrounds and locations under one umbrella .

Getting the right team was not a big deal Nigeria is blessed with loads of brilliant and talented people. So, I did my research, I wanted top officials, so I sourced them all Sheila Okonji Ashinze, CEO Kidztrust says

She continues “And it paid off, we have been through it together, from the initial auditions and call backs in Abuja and Lagos, all the way to the booth camp and now rehearsals, with the help of our partners, it’s been an excellent journey I must say”.

And as if to add spice to an already seasoned show, the organizers have made public their intentions to bring into the country 24 year old American R&B star Lloyd to perform at the event slated for May 27, 2010 .

A member of the team at Kidztrust in America says “Young Lloyd is looking forward to coming to Nigeria for the first time. The R&B singer will be performing for those lucky to buy their tickets on time, after which a concert will follow”

HSM NIGERIAN CAST(FINAL 33 FROM LAGOS)

With the 2010 talent search for Disney’s High School Musical now concluded, teenagers and young adults eagerly await the phenomenal debut stage play which will be delivered by a hundred percent Nigerian cast andcrew.

What better way to empower the cast than for them to share the same stage with award winning RNB singer Lloyd” another member of the team says

Atlanta based Lloyd Harlin Polite was born in New Orleans. He started his solo career in 2006, and with hit songs “Southside” ft Ashanti, “Get it Shawty” and “You” featuring Lil Wayne, Young Lloyd is one young person whose early life has not been wasted. For six years, he has proved himself as a genuine talent.

Based on the Disney’s original movie, the show will be premiered on May 27, 2010 at the Eko Exhibition hall from 11am. There will be a red carpet event followed by the premiere, and then the show proper.

The expectations are high, the kids are waiting with so much enthusiasm, their parents are waiting, their friends and peers can’t wait to watch the show. This is the first time two black performers will be announced as Troy and Gabrielle.

“It’s been work, work and work at the booth camp, everyone is working well, the entire cast is intriguing, people should come to the show with the hope of seeing a tremendously improved version of HSM stage play” Tarilla Thompson, Director of  High School Musical on stage told news men at the booth camp last week.

DBANJ “SIGNS MILLION DOLLAR INTERNATIONAL RECORD DEAL” & IS SET TO PLAY FELA!

So while looking around the internet, something on BellaNaija caught my eye and I thought I’ll share it with you all.

Here you go

Bella Naija has just received exclusive news from a reliable source. According to the source, Nigerian musical superstar, D’Banj is in the process of finalizing a major international record contract. The source is a staff of one of the major international labels, here is his/her account of events:

“It was during a meeting at the record label that I work with (One of the largest international record labels), this particular meeting is a weekly meeting to review new and potential signings. I reviewed the items on the agenda and suddenly I saw the name D’Banj. I was like ah na our boy?! (Didn’t say that out loud though…hehe). The VP leading the meeting led us through how he “discovered” D’Banj at a recent event in LA. From the figures they mentioned, our boy is getting major $$$ for him and million dollar budget for promotion and artist development – the plan is to give him a major international push. Even compared to what they offer ‘urban’ stars, the contract is way above that. Very major! I was proud o”

There you have it! Congrats to D’Banj!
In addition to this good news, D’Banj will be starring in the Broadway musical version of Fela! The Musical. From the available information, the show will be touring around the world soon and D’Banj will play the lead during this tour.
Very exciting.

Putting 2 and 3 together, I have a strong feeling that this record label just might be JayZ’s label because JayZ happens to be one of the producers of Fela The Musical and do you really think that its just a coincidence that Dbanj will be starring as the lead in this musical as well as getting a record deal on one of the biggest international labels?????Hmmm!!!

Well time will tell!

He survived a serious head injury, as a result of the crash.

He was initially admitted at Tai Solarin Hospital, Baba Olosha Bus stop, Mushin before he was transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Idi Araba where Doctors made serious efforts to save his life.
