What is an accident? Does anyone set out to have an accident intentionally? Do we set out for journeys expecting not to arrive at our destinations? Must death be a result of an accident?… These were some of the questions that raced through my mind when I heard that Da Grin, the enigmatic, wave making rapper had been involved in an accident and that he was in a coma.

Trust Nigerians, they said a lot of things, “Ha! He was Drunk”, “He was over speeding”, “He was answering a call”, He was with a woman”, and trust them now! They would be ready to swear to this lies in the name of God almighty. The only thing I didn’t hear was “Ha! I know what I am talking about now, I was in the car with him!, Haba! Nigerians, I pray that one day God will exorcise the spirit of rumour mongering in our lives. Amen? Amen.

Then came the next phase; the stage of BlackBerry rumour. I am sure that the BB, was not invented for what we use it to do in Nigeria. Have you noticed that if we are not wishing people dead on BB, we are threatening people with “If you don’t send this message to all your contact, God will punish you”. I have always maintained that God does not need BB to get us to worship or talk about him, God is not a God of worship me by threat; He is a caring God who would bless who he wants, no matter what. What is so annoying is that, when you tell people you don’t like the threat messages, they become very rude and behave as if you are wrong for pointing out the obvious. My former BB friend “Angelhips” will know what I am talking about here.

If you know the Number of people that are purported to have died on BB, If you know the number of Your money is on the way if you broadcast this to your contact messages that fly around on a daily basis you would be alarmed!. This is not even ma jist.
My jist is when and where is it foolhardy to ACCIDENTALLY HAVE AN ACCIDENT ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD? No need to go too far, Its OUR DEAR COUNTRY NIGERIA.
I have been unfortunate to have had a near-death experience on the Third Mainland Bridge in our dear Lagos and I can visualise what Da Grin must have gone through.
The questions that any sane Nigerian should ask are; after the accident, was an ambulance readily on ground for quick evacuation? NO, Was he given First-aid immediately? NO, Was he taken to the Intensive care unit of the hospital without having to pay an initial deposit for his care? NO, Were the equipment on ground modern enough to give a correct diagnosis? Diagno…..what? I am sure this certainly is another big NO.
We are all crying, weeping, wailing and mourning the death of a great guy, but do you know what? It was not that accident that killed Da Grin. WE ALL CONTRIBUTED TO HIS DEATH. We KILLED Da Grin.!!!. How you would ask?
What was the cement conveying trailer he ran into, doing parked just on the road in front of the Police station at that time of the night? Did money refuse to exchange hands? If so, the trailer driver and the Law enforcement agents involved are culpable.

Where was the ambulance? Where are the standard hospital equipments? Ask the politicians who chopped the money, they too are all culpable.
Why did the People around him not cry for help on time? They would say it is not in our character to be indisposed since we are super humans (ask Turai!!! she would explain) so our way of thinking is faulty. Every one of us who knows what is right and refuses to do anything about it killed Da Grin. It is easy for us to cry, wail and apportion blames, but until the real positive re-orientation is done, more Da Grins’ will DIE.

Every one of us will be involved in at least one accident in our life time but what will the response be? With all the resources God has given us in Nigeria, no one deserves to die all the cheap deaths that have become our national landmark.
Accidents happen, the reason they are called accidents is because they are beyond us. In our dear Nigeria, it is a huge mistake to have an accident because like in every other aspect of our lives we are totally unprepared.

Rest in peace AKOGUN, sun re o
‘Omo olowu oduru, omo aji fi ipin sere.
Babani loko ka di su wale, ba sibo lokoloko.
Ara owu, omo otenko
Omo owu oru lanseka, Eni se losan kofara re lo

A couple of months back I did a post on Adaeze Igwe and Joseph Yobo’s wedding and I mentioned that she had taken in(Nollywood Lingo) that was early this year, its a few months down the line now and Yobo junior(Male or Female) is getting ready to say HELLO to the world.

Here are some pictures of Mrs Adaeze Yobo’s baby bump!

GidiNoize wishes Adaeze a safe delivery!

So while looking around the internet, something on BellaNaija caught my eye and I thought I’ll share it with you all.

Here you go

Bella Naija has just received exclusive news from a reliable source. According to the source, Nigerian musical superstar, D’Banj is in the process of finalizing a major international record contract. The source is a staff of one of the major international labels, here is his/her account of events:

“It was during a meeting at the record label that I work with (One of the largest international record labels), this particular meeting is a weekly meeting to review new and potential signings. I reviewed the items on the agenda and suddenly I saw the name D’Banj. I was like ah na our boy?! (Didn’t say that out loud though…hehe). The VP leading the meeting led us through how he “discovered” D’Banj at a recent event in LA. From the figures they mentioned, our boy is getting major $$$ for him and million dollar budget for promotion and artist development – the plan is to give him a major international push. Even compared to what they offer ‘urban’ stars, the contract is way above that. Very major! I was proud o”

There you have it! Congrats to D’Banj!
In addition to this good news, D’Banj will be starring in the Broadway musical version of Fela! The Musical. From the available information, the show will be touring around the world soon and D’Banj will play the lead during this tour.
Very exciting.

Putting 2 and 3 together, I have a strong feeling that this record label just might be JayZ’s label because JayZ happens to be one of the producers of Fela The Musical and do you really think that its just a coincidence that Dbanj will be starring as the lead in this musical as well as getting a record deal on one of the biggest international labels?????Hmmm!!!

Well time will tell!

Over the past couple of days there have rumours  that Dagrin is dead but today, from a very reliable source we at GidiNoize were told that Dagrin is really and truly gone.Ity is with great sadness that we break this news and I am in shock as I write this but God knows best.

We regret to announce the passing of our son, friend, partner and brother Mr. Olaitan Oladapo Olaonipekun A.K.A. Dagrin.

He died at 6:00pm on Thursday April 22 – exactly eight days after he was involved in a ghastly accident in front of Alakara Police station, off Agege motor road, Mushin, Lagos.

He survived a serious head injury, as a result of the crash.

He was initially admitted at Tai Solarin Hospital, Baba Olosha Bus stop, Mushin before he was transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Idi Araba where Doctors made serious efforts to save his life. He was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit and operated upon, and later moved to the private wing of the hospital.

Doctors worked day and night; we fasted and prayed, but all efforts to save his life proved abortive. We lost him on Thursday April 22, 2010 at 6:00PM.

Dagrin, 26,  was a recording artiste, songwriter, rapper and performer. He was signed to his own label Missofunyin Entertainment and managed by Edlyne Records.

Burial arrangements will be announced by his family soonest.

While we pray the Almighty God grant him eternal rest, we wish to thank his numerous fans and supporters, as well as the media for their unflinching support at this trying period.

We ask that you please continue to pray for his family, especially his parents and siblings. And please only the details contained in this release –jointly issued by his parents and management – should be considered as fact.

So basically I’m gonna tell you my big secret.Ive got a second family and over the past few months Ive grown to love each and every member of this family even more.

I cant pin point the reason why I love them so much because really there a whole lot of reasons,

Is it the deep thought provoking teachings I get not just on Sundays but during the weekday aswell?

The warmth which I feel when i’m around them?

Is it the fact that they do not judge me?

Is it the fact that they make being a christian fun?

Is it the fact that with them I feel at home and dont really feel the absence of my first family so much?

Is it the fact that those wednesday fellowship meals are sooo delicious

Is it the fact that they give me a reason to want to be in Leeds?

Is it the fact that they believe in me?

Is it the fact that with them I see my future with God actually being in it?

Is it the fact that they cater to my mind, spirit and body?

Is it because the Gospel is full?

I do not know but what I do know is that, the past couple of months with which I have worshipped at CloverLeaf Christian Centre have been my most exciting months in Leeds, I have grown to love God more, I have experienced a whole new type of Christianitythat isnt just the regular sunday sunday stuff, I have experienced the type of Christianity that makes the way of the world unattractive to me, I have experienced the type of Christianity that caters to my needs touching the delicate topics like SEX, RELATIONSHIPS and all which a lot of churches run away from.

The bible says Remember your creator in the days of your youth and I can rightfully say that CloverLeaf Christian Centre has helped me a lot in doing this.

And that is why I am here, I am inviting you to come and worship at my church, it would be selfish of me to keep this secret to myself as I have benefitted a lot from it and would love for you to aswell.

So if you are in Leeds or in a nearby town, do come to CloverLeaf Christian Centre.

News just reached us at GidiNoize that the owner of Globacom, Mike Adenuga would be flying in Beyonce Knowles for his daughter, Bella Adenuga’s wedding.

A few days ago, Media Take Out put up an article(which we put up on GidiNoize too) stating that singer, Beyonce Knowles is pregnant, it was also stated in the article that she will continue to work so this her coming to Nigeria thing for Bella’s wedding is very poss still.

Unfortunately the wedding which is a three day affair is in April so we at GidiNoize will not be able to attend(yh we’ve got connection like that) 😉 lol, however we will keep you updated on how the wedding went and put some pictures up soon.
