LLOYD TO PERFORM AT DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL NIGERIA

HSM NIGERIAN CAST(FINAL 25 FROM ABUJA)

It is official; the most anticipated stage play of 2010 High School Musical on Stage has been penciled to premier on May 27, 2010.

It has been weeks of hard work at the Kidztrust secretariat in Surulere, Lagos. These past weeks, the licensees of Disney’s High School Musical in Nigeria have not only thrived to bring onboard the right set of people to train the Kids in singing, Choreography and acting, they have also succeeded in bringing together kids with different beliefs from different backgrounds and locations under one umbrella .

Getting the right team was not a big deal Nigeria is blessed with loads of brilliant and talented people. So, I did my research, I wanted top officials, so I sourced them all Sheila Okonji Ashinze, CEO Kidztrust says

She continues “And it paid off, we have been through it together, from the initial auditions and call backs in Abuja and Lagos, all the way to the booth camp and now rehearsals, with the help of our partners, it’s been an excellent journey I must say”.

And as if to add spice to an already seasoned show, the organizers have made public their intentions to bring into the country 24 year old American R&B star Lloyd to perform at the event slated for May 27, 2010 .

A member of the team at Kidztrust in America says “Young Lloyd is looking forward to coming to Nigeria for the first time. The R&B singer will be performing for those lucky to buy their tickets on time, after which a concert will follow”

HSM NIGERIAN CAST(FINAL 33 FROM LAGOS)

With the 2010 talent search for Disney’s High School Musical now concluded, teenagers and young adults eagerly await the phenomenal debut stage play which will be delivered by a hundred percent Nigerian cast andcrew.

What better way to empower the cast than for them to share the same stage with award winning RNB singer Lloyd” another member of the team says

Atlanta based Lloyd Harlin Polite was born in New Orleans. He started his solo career in 2006, and with hit songs “Southside” ft Ashanti, “Get it Shawty” and “You” featuring Lil Wayne, Young Lloyd is one young person whose early life has not been wasted. For six years, he has proved himself as a genuine talent.

Based on the Disney’s original movie, the show will be premiered on May 27, 2010 at the Eko Exhibition hall from 11am. There will be a red carpet event followed by the premiere, and then the show proper.

The expectations are high, the kids are waiting with so much enthusiasm, their parents are waiting, their friends and peers can’t wait to watch the show. This is the first time two black performers will be announced as Troy and Gabrielle.

“It’s been work, work and work at the booth camp, everyone is working well, the entire cast is intriguing, people should come to the show with the hope of seeing a tremendously improved version of HSM stage play” Tarilla Thompson, Director of  High School Musical on stage told news men at the booth camp last week.

DBANJ “SIGNS MILLION DOLLAR INTERNATIONAL RECORD DEAL” & IS SET TO PLAY FELA!

So while looking around the internet, something on BellaNaija caught my eye and I thought I’ll share it with you all.

Here you go

Bella Naija has just received exclusive news from a reliable source. According to the source, Nigerian musical superstar, D’Banj is in the process of finalizing a major international record contract. The source is a staff of one of the major international labels, here is his/her account of events:

“It was during a meeting at the record label that I work with (One of the largest international record labels), this particular meeting is a weekly meeting to review new and potential signings. I reviewed the items on the agenda and suddenly I saw the name D’Banj. I was like ah na our boy?! (Didn’t say that out loud though…hehe). The VP leading the meeting led us through how he “discovered” D’Banj at a recent event in LA. From the figures they mentioned, our boy is getting major $$$ for him and million dollar budget for promotion and artist development – the plan is to give him a major international push. Even compared to what they offer ‘urban’ stars, the contract is way above that. Very major! I was proud o”

There you have it! Congrats to D’Banj!
In addition to this good news, D’Banj will be starring in the Broadway musical version of Fela! The Musical. From the available information, the show will be touring around the world soon and D’Banj will play the lead during this tour.
Very exciting.

Putting 2 and 3 together, I have a strong feeling that this record label just might be JayZ’s label because JayZ happens to be one of the producers of Fela The Musical and do you really think that its just a coincidence that Dbanj will be starring as the lead in this musical as well as getting a record deal on one of the biggest international labels?????Hmmm!!!

Well time will tell!

D’BANJ & GENEVIEVE NNAJI AT FLORENCE ITA GIWA’S 64TH BIRTHDAY.

GIDINOIZE INTERVIEWS JIDE ALAKIJA(PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER)

JIDE ALAKIJA PORTRAIT by Adebola 'Asiko' Okelarin

Jide Alakija is a Renowned photographer and we at GidiNoize were privileged to have an interview with the man himself.

GidiNoize interviews Jide Alakija

1.CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND(EDUCATIONAL/FAMILY)?

- I was brought up in Warri. I studied Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. My parents were both in the Petroleum business. My dad was a medical doctor to industrial patients while my mother was a chemical engineer on a refinery.

2.GROWING UP,WHO WERE YOUR INFLUENCES?

- Michael Jackson, My cousin Femi, my friends Deji and mates from Shutterchance.

3.WHO OR WHAT INFLUENCED YOU TO BE A PHOTOGRAPHER?

- I think I’ve naturally responded positively to captivating images. I’ve also been impacted by beauty of different parts of the world. I’ve felt the need to somehow capture some parts of my experience for memory. Having spent a lot of time with an artist and a photographer around me such as my good friend Mista Skee and Duane Bong who were passionately into their photography it was only a matter of time before I would be influenced.

4.WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH THE CAMERA?

- recently (2004 Nov) I bought a Sony C1 point and shoot camera. This was gonna be the next gadget in the series I had collected over the year towards my hobby.

5.ARE YOU A SELF TAUGHT PHOTOGRAPHER OR YOU HAD SOME TRAINING?

- yes I am self taught. That’s how I learn best. Mainly through trial and error.

6.WAS IT HARD CONVINCING YOUR PARENTS THAT PHOTOGRAPHY WAS WHAT YOU WANTED TO DO?

- no it wasn’t hard at all. They were very supportive. I’m quite thankful to them.

7.WHAT TYPE OF PHOTOGRAPHY ARE YOU INTO?

- I’m not into any particular type of photography as such. I just like to create images.

8.WHAT TYPE OF CAMERA DO YOU USE AND WHY?

- I’m a Canon man. Mainly because my friends, Mista Skee and Duane had them too.

9.WHATS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE PICTURES YOU TAKE?

- I’m not usually looking for any particular thing however I’ve been told that like images that have a story behind them.

10.HOW MANY PICTURES WOULD YOU SAY YOU TAKE TO FIND ”THE RIGHT ONE”?

- this is a very subjective question, a lot of the time luck determines this. The number is dependent on many factors occuring during the situation. If my subject is still then one shot if they move one shot too. Its about catching what is known as the “the decisive moment”

11.HOW DO YOU DECIDE ON LOCATIONS AND OBJECTS?

- this is usually decided by my client for commercial work. For personal work, I tend to look for places that have interesting subjects.

16.WHAT WILL YOU SAY HAS BEEN THE GREATEST MOMENT OF YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY CAREER SO FAR?

- it would either be when I was asked to photograph Wole Soyinka or my time with Ngozi Chimanada Adichie

GIDINOIZE INTERVIEWS NSE IKPE ETIM-NOLLYWOOD’S LATEST MARVEL.

NSE IKPE ETIM

Nse Ikpe-Etim is the biggest thing in Nollywood right now.She has been in the entertainment industry since age 18 when she anchored a show on NTA.Her first movie role was in Venom of justice 2 after which she has acted in various movies including the Nollywood BIG hit movies;Reloaded and Guilty Pleasures where she acted as Ramsey Nouah’s wife.I must say this woman is an exceptional actress and one of the bests in Nigeria. We at GidiNoize were privileged to have an interview with the star herself, Nse Ikpe-Etim.

Guilty Pleasures Trailer

GidiNoize Interviews Nse Ikpe-Etim.

1. WHO IS NSE IKPE ETIM?

Nse Ikpe-Etim is a typical Libran. Courteous, artistic, gracious, forgetful, and prone to procrastination most of all a people pleaser. That about sums up the good, the bad but there is no ugly.

2. CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND (EDUCATIONAL/FAMILY)?

I have a degree (BA) in Theatre Arts from the University of Calabar and still looking to add more qualifications…(lol). I am from a family of six children. I am the first and we are close knit. Our motto is love.

3. GROWING UP, WHO WERE YOUR INFLUENCES?

My mother influenced greatly. She’s the strongest woman I know, and if I could be just a quarter of the woman she is, I’ll be fine.

4. WHEN AND HOW DID YOU REALIZE ACTING WAS YOUR CALLING?

As a late starter, I had the interest from 18. I must say that although I acted through University (Stage) and after that a bit of screen, I had the strongest conviction after Reloaded

5. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH THE CAMERA?

My first encounter with the camera was in the 90’s when I used to anchor a breakfast television show as a student on NTA Calabar, but for film, it was with Venom of Justice 2.

NSE IKPE-ETIM IN GUILTY PLEASURES

6. WE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ACTED IN ‘GUILTY PLEASURES’ AND ‘RELOADED’.CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR ROLES IN BOTH?

Both roles were completely different but similar because both women (Liz in “Guilty Pleasures “and “Omoze” in Reloaded) craved for their husband’s attention but went about it in completely different ways.

7. IN GUILTY PLEASURES THERE WERE A COUPLE OF STEAMY MOMENTS.HOW DID YOU COPE WITH THEM?

Like a professional, of course there were awkward moments, that’s natural but I was blessed to be working with two equally professional and extremely talented actors.

8. WHO WAS A BETTER KISSER MAJID MICHAEL OR RAMSEY NOUAH? LOL

You are talking about two happily married men, I personally believe that discussing their kissing abilities would be disrespectful to them and their spouses.

9. IN BOTH ‘GUILTY PLEASURES’ AND ‘RELOADED’ RAMSEY NOUAH WAS YOUR HUSBAND, WAS THIS A COINCIDENCE OR YOU GOT TO PICK?

It was purely coincidental

10. IN THE NIGERIAN MOVIE INDUSTRY WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE ACTORS AND ACTRESSES?

There are so many talented actors and actresses. I always find it hard to pick so I’d say most of them.

11. WHAT HAS BEEN THE GREATEST MOMENT OF YOUR ACTING CAREER SO FAR?

I am still relatively new to this. I think it’s still on the way. You will be the first to know.

NSE IKPE-ETIM IN RELOADED

12. HOW DOES IT FEEL BEING A CELEBRITY?

Honestly, I feel the same way I used to feel when I was relatively unknown. It has not gotten to the point where I know. Like I said it’s a whole new thing.

13. HOW DO YOU COPE WITH THE FANS?

This might sound cliché, but my fans make me and I love them.

14. WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT ACTING AND BEING A CELEBRITY?
Acting for me is a whole new experience each time because it gives you a chance to step into a new character and become a whole new individual…it completely allows me to express myself, it’s the best feeling in the world as for being a celebrity….I still don’t know.

15. .IS THERE ANYTHING YOU DO NOT LIKE ABOUT ACTING? IF SO WHAT IS IT?

The only thing I do not like about acting is the publicity that comes with it. I’ve always been a private person, with few friends but acting takes that away, it just leaves you out there to the public.

16. .IS THERE ANYTHING YOU FEEL IS MISSING IN YOUR LIFE AT THE MOMENT?

Hmmmmmm….a mini me….. (Lol)

Nse Ikpe Etim

17. WHATS NEXT FOR NSE EKPE ETIM?

Honestly, I am taking each day as it comes…one step at a time

18. OUTSIDE THE MOVIE SCENE WHO IS NSE EKPE ETIM?

A friend…a clown…a sister….I am just plain Nse who enjoys the laughs…

19. HOW DO YOU KEEP IN SHAPE?

I’m not even going to lie and say I work out, diet and stuff because I don’t. I eat a whole lot; the only thing is I try to eat very small proportions every time. I eat and drink a lot of water.

20. APART FROM ACTING DO YOU HAVE OTHER AREAS OF INTEREST?

Yes! Cooking…I totally love cooking.

21. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF ACTRESSES IN THE NIGERIAN MOVIE INDUSTRY, WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT FROM THE REST?

Do I?? I don’t think so…….

22. WHAT DO YOU FEEL THE NIGERIAN MOVIE INDUSTRY IS LACKING AT THE MOMENT AND CAN YOU FEEL THE VOID?

The Nigerian Movie Industry is a peculiar one. There is no blue print on how and what should be done. The truth is we got here by virtue of our tenacity…so with a little more, we will conquer our fears. Piracy being one…..

23. WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS?

Still cooking………

24. WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR UPCOMING ACTRESSES?

The race is not to the swift……Ecclesiastes. 9:11

25. ANY LAST WORDS FOR YOUR FANS?

Thank you for your unending support and I hope that no matter what, you will be there because we are in this together.
